A man who allegedly threatened to rob a person at gunpoint died after Englewood police officers shot and killed him Saturday.
Officers were called to a motel at 4575 South Broadway about 12:40 p.m. after a 911 caller said the man had pointed a gun at them and threatened to rob and shoot them, the Englewood Police Department said in a news release. The man then left the area on foot.

The responding officers found the man near Broadway and Princeton Avenue, and he ran north through the alley toward Oxford Avenue.
The officers chased him on foot and confronted him near the Oxford and Broadway intersection, where they shot him. None of the officers were injured, but the man was taken to a hospital and died.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, and the 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting.
